01/04/2010 - Wales becomes the UK's first digital TV nation

This is an historic day for TV in Wales as we say goodbye to the old analogue system forever. Before switchover began, one-in-three Welsh viewers couldn’t receive Freeview.

Today, virtually everyone in Wales has that choice, with one million people gaining coverage.

Over 1.2 million homes in Wales have over the last year have been moving towards creating the UK's first digital TV nation.

Gekko – Digital UK Retail Support Executives have prepared Wales retailers for the switchover spanning the last 18 months completing 1752 store visits.

Our FM&BE award winning training solution was delivered to over 3,458 staff in a cross section of stores that include everything from B&Q to specialist independent TV stores.

All in store POS has been created bi-lingual to respect customers and staff that are welsh speaking and all regional meetings were completed in the Welsh language. English speaking attendees listened through headphones to an English translation.
